“The Yule Ball is approaching – an opportunity for us to socialize with our guests. Now, the ball will be open only to 18 years and above. Dress robes will be worn,” Professor McGonagall warns, “and the ball will start at seven-thirty on December the 16th, finishing at eleven o'clock, in the Great Hall. Now then,” Professor McGonagall stares deliberately around, “The Yule Ball is, of course, a chance for us all to – er – let our hair down,” she states, in a disapproving voice. “But that does NOT mean,” demands Professor McGonagall, “that we will be relaxing the standards of behavior we expect from witches and wizards alike. I will be most seriously displeased if a Gryffindor embarrasses the ball in any way.”
